In exactly seven weeks today, I fly from Toronto to Paris via Air Transat to begin my Camino FranceĀ“s. I’m getting excited and a little anxious because I have not got everything in place! I have not trained enough. My house is still grimy. There are a few more weeds than I would like in the garden and I haven’t nailed down all the “what ifs.”
…And I am spending this precious time reading and writing rather than doing some or all of the above. OK, I have ordered and received my day pack. I may have my pack back forwarded, when I’m feeling the strain, so I need a day pack for water, rain gear and SNACKS!! I found one on sale from Eddie Bauer for $20.00. It was perfect, except it was missing a buckle on the waist straps. I guess you were just supposed to tie them together – really! I rummaged through a bag I had planned to drop off at the Sally Ann and found two waist packs I was giving away. Both had buckles. I snipped off one of them and secured it to my day pack. It really looks a lot better now!
I have also booked my early morning fast train from Montparnasse to Bayonne and a second train onto St. Jean Pied de Port. I have added an antihistamine to my meds list, because one of the walkers in our group was stung by a wasp, just under his eye, on our latest walk. Anything can happen. I think I have to buy more frozen pizzas to sustain the two kids that I am leaving behind for 55 days or there abouts. I know that some people can just leave on a whim and believe that everything will look after itself. Clearly that is not me. I am a control freak with an Aquarius rising. I have to have everything in order for my return.
So I guess I should stop writing and start working. Seven weeks is not forever.
