Nerd Alert!!

OK, I’m a collector. I’m one of those people who would have a sticker or decal on my luggage, on my car, on my sleeve – it’s a girl guide “thing.” We would sew our achievement badges on the sleeve of our uniform. I now sew them on my backpack…..And I will collect stamps in my credential as I make my way along the Camino.

To the four flags and two badges that I had for my Portuguese Camino, I have added the French flag, as I will start my Camino in France and it is, after all, the Camino FranceĀ“s and the badge of the Canadian Company of Pilgrims, of which I am a member. I have also added my first stamp in my credential. It is the stamp of the Toronto chapter of the Canadian Company of Pilgrims – yes our mascot is a raccoon – go figure. My next stamp will be from Notre Dame in Paris, then Bayonne etc. etc.

I had a little trouble aligning the French flag on my back pack. For some reason even though I pinned it on straight, then basted it on straight and then pinned it on straight again – yes I resewed it several times – it always managed to skew to one side or the other…until I had my pack fully loaded. I’m taking this as a sign.

I’ll save my hat and its pins for another post. I’m still recovering from the hat I saw at Costco the other day. Every square centimetre of this “Tilly” hat was covered with a pin. It was a reminder to not go overboard, even though restraint has never been a strong point. Buen Camino
