Nick in the distance

Yesterday was our first overcast day. It was a little cooler with a high of 15C. The walk was lovely but a bit busy. The school groups had moved on only to be replaced by small groups of Spanish women which were somehow even louder. They were lovely though- always offering a Buen Camino when they passed.

Nick and I walked together until I stopped for breakfast at a lovely outdoor spot while the sun peeked through briefly. We met up again after about 10kms. The total length of our walk was 14kms.

Our room is very nice at Casa Theodora. The town itself is fine. However every restaurant had several gaming machines, a big screen TV and noise. The food was for the most part good.

I’ve developed a small blister unfortunately. With a little doctoring it is healing. I’ve decided to take a bus today from Arzua to O Pedrouzo which puts us about 20kms from Santiago. Nick will walk that distance and I’ll decide whether I take transit part way and walk the last 10 kms into Santiago. We then have 3 days in Santiago. I think for Nick the highlight of the Camino has been meeting people and especially our Camino family. Which are 3 couples in their 60s with only one couple speaking English. Still hugs are universal and Nicky is a big hugger. I like meeting up with people but struggle with the language barrier. I enjoy more the forested paths and the birdsong. I’m ever thankful that we’ve had no rain. More to come.
