The walk at the beginning was idyllic. Then it got rougher. Somewhere beyond Espinal the path became very rocky. It was easier to climb up the rises than to descend them. It took me a very long time to get to Zubiri. However once here my hostel is lovely. There aren’t many restaurants here so I sat down at an empty table in a bar and was promptly invited to join a group of 5 other pilgrims. They were a lively group so I had two glasses of wine and a slice of Spanish tortilla. It was a great evening. It’s now 6:30am. I’m just waiting for the sun to rise to be on my way. Everyone else left at 6:00am.
I’m staying in Villava tonight just before Pamploma. It’s a shorter day. I needed a break from several difficult walks. More later. Have a great day.
