Made it to Orisson

I had a lovely time in St Jean Pied de Port. The pilgrim’s office was very accommodating. My hostel La Vita Bella was lovely. It didn’t do dinner so after I bought my walking poles I found a cafe nearby and had a risotto with mushrooms, chorizo, courgettes and some extra chunks of cheese. With two glasses of wine it was delicious. I slept well and seemed to have out walked any jet lag. After a substantial breakfast, much of which I saved for lunch. I then began walking in a light mist which became a light rain. The first 5kms were fine. The last three were difficult. I paused often. Still I made the climb in about 3 hours and arrived at a chaotic Orisson for lunch. I can understand the euphoria. People are celebrating their achievement. I just needed a coffee and time to collect my thoughts. I finished my breakfast with Katie from Ireland, whom I had met yesterday. It was a great start. Tomorrow-more walking. Buen Camino.
