If you had to be ill anywhere on the Camino this is not a bad place. The Albergue is brand new. There is the Templar Castle and hundreds of restaurants.
My cold is improving. The bill from the hospital is a little over 100euros, which I will deal with tomorrow. The Albergue does a great breakfast for 7euros and I am close to everything except the bus station.
I spend a lot of time just resting and watching other pilgrims on FB. I don’t mind not finishing my Camino. I always said that “I will start the Camino Frances and see what happens.” I started the walk and this is what happened. I will process it through my writing. I have all Winter to do this.
I miss a little not being part of a walking group but there are other compensations like sitting and doing nothing in the interest of healing. I’m here for a few more days and then I take a bus to a hostel in Barrio San Lazaro just before Santiago, where I will connect with my friend Cynthia and we’ll walk into Santiago together. This plan has all come together because in an idle moment, I decided to send a text via WhatsApp to Cynthia, another Canadian person, I walked with on the Meseta. She was so kind (My Camino Angel) as she sent me her itinerary from Sarria to Santiago. I noticed that Cynthia had brilliantly booked a hostel 3kms from Santiago. I could, even ill, walk 3kms. I decided to book the hostel as well for two nights and meet Cynthia there. After two days in Santiago there will be other plans. Buen Camino
