Portomarin

We left our alberque at the 100kms marker after a lovely stay in a great room with just two beds and our own private bathroom. The hostel itself was a beautifully restored stone house with a perfect garden, artistic layout and wonderful hospitaleros. We had a very tasty communal meal of lentil soup, chicken and mushroom stew, a crisp salad, and a homemade cake with a large tinned peach – delicious!

There were only 6 of us for dinner. Two 33yos from Germany, a 33 and 34yo from Italy – all male and one 33yo from Canada plus his 81yo mother. After a glass or two of wine the conversation flowed. So far Nick has decided that this was his favourite place. The cost for everything including laundry was 75 euros for both of us.

We are now in Portomarin after a short 9kms walk through a misty trail of rolling hills, stray cats and precious birdsong. I’ll keep you posted. Buen Camino
