Sansol

Again I couldn’t find accommodation within 15kms or so of Estella so I booked further down the road in Sansol. I took the morning bus to Los Arcos and walked a mere 7 or 8kms. I was way too early. However I was able to pass the time before the hostel opened chatting to a lovely pilgrim from NZ. We were then joined by a Dutch fellow who was looking to buy property to start his own Albergue. We passed most of the afternoon in animated conversation.

The hostel is an old converted palace which serves dinner and breakfast. It’s just as well because there isn’t much else in town. However the walk to the town was lovely. It was made especially nice because I was walking with an older chap who was born in Scotland but has lived in Holland for 40 years. He was walking with his wife and stepson who were way ahead because he walked very slowly – my pace and he had that very acerbic Celtic humour. It was a delightful stroll. I am though itching to do longer kms walks.
