Windswept

I held my breath many times while reading this book. It’s riveting. The author writes in depth about six “famous” women and why they walked. You will recognize Frieda von Richthofen, yes that Richthofen, from her husband, D. H. Lawrence. You will not recognize Simone de Beauvoir, the walker and you will see Georgia O’Keefe in a new light. I have just bought Nan Shepherd’s book “The Living Mountain” – review coming soon – based on her story in Annabel’s book. What makes this book even more amazing is the fact that the author didn’t just write about these women, she walked many of their paths to understand more about their reasons for walking.

Annabel is a walker. She understands the challenges of walking for women and she takes on these challenges herself. I am humbled. Windswept is a must read that’s beautifully written.
