Santiago 2

Today was another lovely day. Even though we were staying another night in our Albergue, we had to be out by 9:00am for cleaning. Cynthia and I walked past the Cathedral again to a place we knew for breakfast. Before we even got there, we were stopped by a woman from Alberta who recognized us […]

I’ve been eating better since Cynthia and I have been going out for meals together. My cold is getting better by degrees. Today we walked 3kms to the Cathedral, arriving very early. Cynthia got her Compostela and I got a nice certificate for effort. We went to the English pilgrim mass in the chapel at

Today I am very close to Santiago. Cynthia should arrive tomorrow so there will be someone else to try to figure out the eating times at restaurants. I went out about 5:00 as my phone said that some restaurants were open. No it’s all a conspiracy to starve foreign nationals. I’ll go out again about

Today is the first sign that the coughing has eased. I may be on the mend. I spent a good deal of time rewriting the lyrics to a popular song from years ago – “wasting away in Ponferradaville,” except that I’m not wasting my time. I’m healing. I’m also managing to eat a bit more.

What I didn’t post yesterday was that I did a face plant just outside of El Acebo. It was again a very flat part of the path and I had no idea what caused it. I picked myself up and carried on through several hours of a rocky treacherous descent into Molinaseca, one of the

The weather continues to be sunny and not too warm. The treacherous downhill treks have continued for the second day. The rewards have been two lovely villages El Acebo and Molineseca at the end of those hours upon hours of rocks. I didn’t meet up with anyone I knew today so it was a bit

I still seem to be suffering from this mild virus in spite of feeling a little better yesterday. I was able to walk 7kms to Rabanal but I was too tired to make the 7kms climb to my Albergue. I wasn’t sure how I was actually going to get there either. Well the Camino provided.
