Tardajos

Today was a lovely day. I walked 13kms from Burgos to the little town of Tardajos. The hostel was a bit off the path and at the start of the town so I had some backtracking to do and then walk another kilometre along a side road, but it was worth it. The hostel is […]

Burgos 3

Today is my last full day in Burgos. It’s a beautiful city. Where Barcelona has charming narrow streets, Burgos has gorgeous wide open spaces. I strolled through elegant plazas and tree lined promenades, the cathedral dominating it all. It will be hard to leave. My backpack should arrive today and I will be grateful for

Burgos 2

Today is looking like a much better day. In spite of missing the 7:15am bus from the campground- I apparently wasn’t standing at the bus stop. Then again it was difficult to ask anyone where it was in the pitch black with no one around. After the sun came up I asked a lovely gentleman

Burgos 1

Today was a strange day. It started out with a lovely misty morning walk to Villafranca Montes de Oca about 5kms along the trail. Because of the complications of booking accommodation, I had to take a place about 8kms off the path. The place was Monasterio de Rodilla, which I thought was an old Monastery,

Ciruena

When my phone finally updated yesterday, it said I had walked 18kms. Camino Ninja posted the route as 19kms. It doesn’t matter. It was a lovely walk. Today I walked mainly through vineyards. It wasn’t as busy as a few days ago so I walked a good deal of the time alone. I had breakfast,

Sides and Asides…1

Some “stuff” gets missed in the daily turnover of getting to hostels, booking in, doing laundry, eating and posting. So here is what I don’t want missed. I will remember forever a delicious bowl of Gazpacho in Lorca, spoiled only by a Canadian from Edmonton who wondered if I might be too hot in my

La Ventosa

I made it to La Ventosa today. Camino Ninja said it would be 19kms. My phone said it was 16kms, my phone has lied before, and my body said that you could maybe have done another 5kms. The path was flat. It was an easy slog. (I mastered in oxymorons, with minor in morons). All
