Made it to Orisson

I had a lovely time in St Jean Pied de Port. The pilgrim’s office was very accommodating. My hostel La Vita Bella was lovely. It didn’t do dinner so after I bought my walking poles I found a cafe nearby and had a risotto with mushrooms, chorizo, courgettes and some extra chunks of cheese. With […]

Notre Dame

Again serendipity came to the rescue. Rosa had tried repeatedly to book a reservation for us to see Notre Dame and was told that they were “sold out.” We knew that we could get in at 6:00pm for mass, so we set out to get there early. We arrived at 5:30 to suss things out.

Serendipity in Paris

I flew Air Transat to Paris yesterday…..or maybe it was the day before?…I can’t be sure. I know I left on a Monday and it is now Wednesday. Anyway the flight was OK. There was a lot of turbulence and there was nothing to watch in the way of TV or movie entertainment. If the

Two weeks today, I leave for Paris to begin my Camino France´s. I’ve started to do some serious walking. The temperatures have cooled a bit – 21C, so I managed a 20kms walk with a full backpack – 10lbs. I walked 10kms to the Brickworks and back, had lunch and then repeated the walk. I

In exactly seven weeks today, I fly from Toronto to Paris via Air Transat to begin my Camino France´s. I’m getting excited and a little anxious because I have not got everything in place! I have not trained enough. My house is still grimy. There are a few more weeds than I would like in

Getting There

I can’t believe that it’s been almost six months since I last posted. The snow came in mid January and I couldn’t walk in the ravines with the ice. I walk a lot, but my balance isn’t very good, so anything slippery underfoot is dangerous. I was able to do a maintenance walk of 9kms
